Transportation Services at Pana Community Hospital

A Legacy of Caring

Pana Community Hospital has long recognized the vital need for reliable transportation to healthcare appointments. Over 25 years ago, Faith-In-Action (FIA), supported by Pana Community Hospital, was established to provide transportation services to those in need. Faith-In-Action volunteers generously offered rides to doctor and dental appointments, as well as other personal engagements. Beyond transportation, FIA also provided services like light housekeeping, yard work, ramp building, and friendly visits to shut-ins, fostering a supportive community for those in need.

Transition to PCH Transport Services

As the years passed, the demand for transportation to medical appointments significantly increased, while the volunteer base for Faith-In-Action began to dwindle. Recognizing this growing need and the wear on the existing vans, the FIA Board made the strategic decision to focus solely on transportation services. In 2018, Faith-In-Action transitioned its resources and services to PCH Transport Services, a dedicated transportation program for Pana Community Hospital patients. This transition was made possible by the generous support of the Ruby June Munzenmaier Estate, which funded the purchase of a new wheelchair-accessible van and a passenger van.

Reliable & Compassionate Patient Transport

PCH Transport Services has become an invaluable resource, ensuring that patients can attend their medical appointments safely and on time. Our transport services cover appointments at Pana Community Hospital and its affiliated clinics in Assumption, Ramsey, and Nokomis. Additionally, we provide transportation to specialist appointments in Springfield, Decatur, and other surrounding areas.

Our services are facilitated by two dedicated part-time drivers, with additional support from volunteer drivers as needed. PCH Transport Services operates without charging patients, relying on donations to help cover operational costs, ensuring that transportation is accessible to all who need it.
