Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant (Inpatient / Swingbed)
Status: Non-exempt; Full-Time
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
Salary Range: $26.30-$36.82 (Based on Experience)
Description:
Pana Community Hospital is seeking a dedicated and clinically proficient Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide quality physical therapy services under the direction of a Licensed Physical Therapist. In this role, you will administer treatment programs, perform patient tests and measurements, assist with therapeutic exercises, mobility, transfers, ambulation, balance, and functional activities, and provide education and motivation to patients and families. You will document patient care and progress, communicate patient status and treatment responses to the Physical Therapist and healthcare team, and maintain compliance with hospital policies, Medicare guidelines, safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards. The PTA will work collaboratively with patients, families, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals while maintaining a professional and compassionate approach to patient care.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current Illinois license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Current CPR certification.
- One year of previous experience preferred.
- Current driver's license and reliable, insured automobile.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to work with spreadsheets.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of current physical therapy practices.
- Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a healthcare team.
- Strong organizational, concentration, stress management, and time-management skills.
- Ability to accurately perform patient tests and measurements and administer treatments as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Ability to educate and instruct patients and families regarding exercises, functional activities, mobility, and treatment plans.
- Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation and submit progress notes and charges within required timeframes.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and hospital policies.
- Ability to follow Medicare guidelines, hospital policies, infection control procedures, and safety standards.
- Ability to safely operate therapy equipment and use proper body mechanics.
- Ability to recognize and report patient concerns, safety issues, equipment problems, or changes in patient condition.
- Ability to remain professional, courteous, and effective when working with patients, families, physicians, managers, and coworkers.
- Ability to adapt to changing patient needs and departmental priorities.
- Ability to participate in meetings, in-services, case conferences, continuing education, and quality assurance activities.
- Ability to perform physical duties including standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and assisting with patient transfers, including lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
