Salary Range: $19.53- $25.38 (Based on Experience)
Description:
Pana Community Hospital is seeking a dedicated Patient Account Representative to support our Patient Financial Services and Registration teams. In this role, you will perform patient registration and receptionist duties, process charges, charge corrections, daily receipts, and electronic remittances, and assist with patient account and registration functions. You will provide exceptional, compassionate customer service to patients and visitors while ensuring accurate insurance and payment information, confidentiality, and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. You will also assist patients with financial assistance programs, support switchboard operations, process required documentation, and collaborate with hospital departments to ensure accurate and efficient revenue cycle operations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience working with the public required; healthcare experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policies.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and accept responsibility for assigned duties.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when handling difficult or stressful situations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and assist in other areas as departmental needs arise.
- Basic computer skills, including keyboard proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience operating office equipment, including calculators, fax machines, and copiers.
- Ability to accurately enter and process patient, payment, charge, and insurance information.
- Ability to understand and follow established procedures, hospital policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Flexible availability to assist with staffing and departmental needs.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform duties requiring standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
