She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mennonite College of Nursing in 1998 and a Masters degree from University of Missouri at St. Louis in 1999. She has been working as an Adult Nurse Practitioner for the past 20 years at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. Rakers is originally from Ramsey.
