New Hospitalist Group to Serve PCH

February 2nd, 2023

Pana Community Hospital is pleased to announce they have contracted with a hospitalist group to serve the hospital’s inpatients. This group of highly experienced physicians is provided by Decatur Memorial Hospital.

A hospitalist is a physician who cares for inpatients at a specific hospital. These highly trained physicians work on a rotating basis at Pana Community Hospital managing day-to-day care and providing prompt and complete attention to the needs of the patient from the time they are admitted to PCH until they are discharged.

“We are very excited to bring this service to our hospital,” said Trina Casner, President and CEO of PCH. “This collaboration with Decatur Memorial Hospital will allow us to provide exceptional service to the patients in our communities who need inpatient care.”

Decatur Memorial Hospital is part of Memorial Health, a community-based, not-for-profit organization that provides a full range of inpatient, outpatient, home health, hospice, behavioral health and primary care physician services across central Illinois.

“Our hospitalist team is focused on meeting the needs of hospitalized patients and providing compassionate care,” said Tamar Kutz, vice president, quality and operations, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. “We’re pleased to partner with PCH to serve the Pana community.”

Pana Community Hospital’s inpatients were previously served by Dr. Demosthenes Asuncion, who is stepping down from the role of inpatient care. Our hospital is thankful for his years of service as Hospitalist. Dr. Asuncion will continue his service to PCH in the Emergency Department.
