Together "We Honor Veterans"

October 16th, 2018

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #73 and the VFW Auxiliary Unit #4495 of Taylorville have given their hearts to Quad County Hospice. On September 20th, Quad County’s No Veteran Will Die Alone program received a wonderful donation of 12 care blankets and a generous monetary donation of $1,000 dollars. Both Auxiliary Units VFW and the American Legion have come together with the same cause to help our veterans that are in Quad County Hospice care.  These 12 care blankets were jointly made by American Legion Auxiliary Unit #73 and VFW Auxiliary Unit #4495. Each care blanket represents a branch of service with a matching pillow and were prayed upon for peace and comfort for the veterans receiving them. Quad County Hospice will present branch of service care blankets to all their hospice patients that are veterans. Also, the American Legion Auxiliary presented a monetary donation of $1,000 dollars. Taylorville American Legion Auxiliary coordinates and holds an annual Veteran’s Benefit Run. All proceeds from these runs are donated to various organizations that assist and honor local veterans. In 2018 it was their 15th annual run. The generous donation that was given to Quad County Hospice No Veteran Will Die Alone program will go towards veteran appreciation gifts. Veterans that are admitted in to Quad County Hospice are given an Honor Pinning Ceremony and gifts of appreciation. Gifts include an American Flag Veteran pin, branch of service pin, certificate of appreciation, and a branch of service care blanket and pillow. Quad County is thankful for both organizations and their joint effort with us to help veterans that are in need of compassionate care. We thank you also for your service to local veterans and your help with our mission of No Veteran Will Die Alone. Quad County Hospice serves Christian, Shelby, Fayette and Montgomery counties. If you would like to become a hospice volunteer or to be a part of mission to help our veterans please contact Rachael Springate, Volunteer Coordinator at Quad County Hospice at 217-562-6380 ext #290.
