Foundation Golf Raises over $30,000

August 23rd, 2018

The Pana Community Hospital Foundation’s 25th Annual Golf Outing at Oak Terrace Resort of Pana raised over $30,000 and featured the largest number of participants, with 36 teams registered in the 18-hole golf scramble.  Funds raised will go towards the Foundation’s Capital Campaign for the hospital’s building project.

The winning team had a score of 55 and was sponsored by Don Bilyeu.  Team members included Brian Barnes, Anthony Sloan, Andrew Barnes and Brad Durbin.  Second place team winners with a score of 56 were Mitch Ade, Derek Ade, Travis Pinkston and Bryan Bender.  The third place team was sponsored by Candy’s Flowers and also had a score of 56.  This team was comprised of Roger Fouts, Don Galvin, Mitch Myers and Dave White.

A highlight of this year’s golf outing was professional golfer, Wes Patterson.  Wes competes in PGA long drive contests throughout the world.  He is currently ranked 25th in the world and just finished in 5th place at the world championships.  Wes was stationed at hole #10 where, for a fee, he would hit the tee shot for a golfer.  The proceeds add to the fundraising total.  Wes hit an average of 380 yards throughout the afternoon and even hit a drive approximately 400 yards!

Proximity winners were:  closest second shot on hole #12, Mike Orange; longest putt on hole #18, Dennis Reed; closest to the pin on hole #5, Kody Bland; ladies longest drive on hole #6, Gayle McRoberts; and men’s longest drive on hole #2, Chip Wagner.

Eagle Sponsors were O’Shea Builders, Carle Foundation Hospital, Consolidated Communications, Dr. Alan Frigy, Precise Specialties, Cerner Corporation, Drs. Terry and Laurie Cunnington, and KONE.

Kim Rodgers, Foundation Executive Director, stated;   “We were thrilled that for the 25th year, the rains held off and our golfers enjoyed a beautiful day at Oak Terrace.  We had a record number of teams and are blessed with support from our community and business sponsors.  Special thanks to our golfers, sponsors, volunteers and Oak Terrace for making this event a success.”

The Capital Campaign will continue throughout 2019.  To date over $650,000 has been raised of the $1.5 million dollar goal.  Those wanting to help us reach our goal can contact the Foundation office at 562-6340 or donate online at:   give.panahospital.com.
